Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley envisions 2025 as a transformative year for crypto, artificial intelligence, and business innovation. In a series of posts on X, Horsley highlighted the untapped potential of tokenization and AI in driving a new wave of smaller, niche businesses.
“Tokenization has often been touted for democratizing access to money market funds, but its real revolutionary power lies on the supply side,” Horsley explained. He believes tokenization could open capital markets to smaller businesses that previously lacked access. AI advancements, he noted, could further amplify this trend by enabling an “explosion of micro-companies.”
These niche businesses, too small to go public, could find a new path through tokenization. Horsley called this development a “long-tail capital market” that could reshape the entrepreneurial landscape.
Corporate Bitcoin Adoption
Another key theme Horsley identified for 2025 is the emergence of “Bitcoin Standard Corporations.” Following the lead of companies like MicroStrategy—currently holding over 446,400 Bitcoin—many corporations may begin integrating Bitcoin into their treasuries.
“2025 will see a wave of corporations adopting the Bitcoin standard,” Horsley predicted. This aligns with a trend that began in late 2024, as smaller firms announced strategies to invest in Bitcoin as a treasury asset.
Horsley also commented on the potential resurgence of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), particularly under the anticipated Trump administration. He suggested that large corporations, including the “Magnificent 7” (Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla), may finally capitalize on their market power.
A Turning Point for Crypto in 2025
“The big may get bigger, and the middle may shrink,” Horsley remarked, warning that such developments could further highlight the foundational ethos of crypto: minimizing reliance on large institutions.
Horsley’s insights reflect a broader optimism about 2025 as an important year for crypto and business innovation. From tokenizing small enterprises to embracing Bitcoin treasuries and navigating a reinvigorated M&A environment, his predictions suggest a year of profound change.
