After Delay, Uniswap Now Prepared For V4 Upgrade in 2025

Uniswap recently hinted at the potential launch of its latest Uniswap v4 version. The crypto community picked up the hint from a teaser posted earlier on X by Uniswap Labs.

It is worth noting that the teaser featured an image made with Unicode, showing the year 2025 with the caption “v4 is coming soon”. Not much has been said concerning the incoming iteration.

When is the Uniswap v4 Upgrade Coming?

The crypto community has been in suspense, expecting an official date to be announced. The Decentralized Exchange (DEX) did not mention the exact date, but enthusiasts’ speculations support that Uniswap has earlier announced the coming of greater things in 2025.

“Between v4, Unichain, and a few other surprises… it’s going to be a very pink year,” Uniswap wrote.

New Features With the Incoming Uniswap v4

Before this time, the debut of the upgrade was scheduled for Q3 2024, precisely after the popular Ethereum (ETH) Dencun upgrade

However, some conditions contributed to its delay and have caused the fourth iteration to remain in its testing phase. Even though the DEX has not tied any date to the official launch of v4, it highlighted a few features that will come with the upgrade.

With the Uniswap v4 upgrade are several enhancements aimed at improving efficiency, reducing slippage, and enhancing capital efficiency for liquidity providers. Concentrated liquidity is one of the key features of iteration.

With this addition, LPs can concentrate their liquidity within a price range. On the good side, this could reduce inefficiencies and optimize trading fees.

Uniswap Upgrade To Take Place in Phases

Uniswap founder Hayden Adams shared his vision for Uniswap v4 in June 2023. He released a draft code and invited open feedback and community contributions.

He also clarified that the development would be a months-long process. Uniswap v4 release is designed to happen in three phases. This includes “Code Freeze,” the first phase where Uniswap engages in various activities.

Such activities include core code testing, completion, gas optimizations, security enhancements, and periphery finalizing. There is also the auditing and testnet phase and the Lunch Push phase.
