Bitwise Invest has introduced the Bitwise Bitcoin Standard Corporations ETF (OWNB), a fund designed to track publicly traded companies holding significant Bitcoin reserves.
The ETF is based on the Bitwise Bitcoin Standard Corporations Index, which includes over 70 companies that meet the requirement of holding at least 1,000 BTC.
Bitwise Bitcoin Standard Corporations ETF Offers New Way to Invest in Bitcoin Holdings
Bitwise Bitcoin Standard Corporations ETF provides investors with indirect exposure to Bitcoin through equity investments rather than direct cryptocurrency holdings.
The ETF follows a structured weighting system, where companies are ranked according to their Bitcoin ownership. The largest holding is capped at 20% to ensure diversification, and companies where Bitcoin represents less than 33% of total assets are assigned a 1.5% weighting.
Growing Corporate Bitcoin Adoption Drives New Investment Opportunities
Bitwise’s initiative comes as more corporations diversify their treasury holdings into Bitcoin, seeking alternatives to traditional cash reserves. Data from the Bitwise index indicates that publicly listed companies collectively hold approximately 591,817 BTC as of 2024, which around $5 trillion in cash.

At the ETF’s launch, the largest holdings included Strategy (MSTR) with a 20.87% allocation. MARA Holdings, a Bitcoin mining firm, accounted for 12.12%, while CleanSpark and Riot Platforms followed with 6.26% and 6.23%, respectively.

Other key players in the index include Boyaa Interactive, Metaplanet, Aker ASA, Bitfarms, Bitfufu, and Galaxy Digital, all of which maintain Bitcoin holdings above the 1,000 BTC threshold.
The OWNB ETF, which is traded on the New York Stock Exchange Arca platform, has an expense ratio of 0.85%. The fund does not directly invest in Bitcoin or related derivatives but focuses on equity investments in firms with substantial Bitcoin holdings.
