Leading asset management firm BlackRock has achieved a notable milestone in its investment strategy. According to a press release, BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) paid about $4.17 million in dividends in March alone. This is the highest amount any tokenized Treasury fund pays in a month. It shows that blockchain-based financial products are growing quickly.

BUIDL Proves A New Way to Earn from U.S. Treasury

BlackRock’s BUIDL gives people a new way to earn income from U.S. government debt. The fund uses blockchain technology to make this process faster and more flexible. Unlike traditional funds that pay dividends once a month, BUIDL pays investors every day.

This daily income can be used immediately, which is impossible with most regular money market funds. Blockchain technology allows this by removing the delays and restrictions of traditional finance.

Tokenization is the process of turning real-world assets into digital tokens. BUIDL uses this method to bring U.S. Treasuries to the blockchain. This allows investors to trade and access these assets anytime without waiting for market hours.

Securitize, the company that helps manage BUIDL, revealed it has already paid investors $25.4 million in dividends in one year. That shows how fast this new financial tool, launched in March 2024, is growing faster than similar products.

According to Michael Sonnenshein, Securitize’s COO, tokenization does not just simplify traditional finance; it improves it.

BlackRock Takes the Lead in the Growing Market

BlackRock’s BUILD fund now holds $1.9 billion in user deposits, more than any other tokenized Treasury fund. BlackRock and Securitize control 37% of the total market, which is nearing $5 billion in value. Most of this money is locked on Ethereum, which supports 53% of all tokenized real-world assets.

Ethereum’s smart contracts and strong security make it suitable for projects like BUIDL, showing its importance in digital finance. More than 90% of BUIDL’s dividends have been paid to Ethereum users.

BlackRock Expands Tokenized Treasury Funds to More Blockchains

Although Ethereum is the main network, BUIDL is now available on six other decentralized blockchains. These are Aptos, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon, and recently extended to the Solana network. This wide reach helps more users access the fund and shows BlackRock’s goal to grow across different platforms.

BUIDL is an example of how financial services are changing with blockchain technology. It offers daily income, fast access, and wide availability. With strong growth and high demand, BUIDL is leading the way in the market for tokenized Treasury funds.
