Bitcoin just got even more accessible thanks to a new feature from CashuBTC, a privacy-focused eCash wallet.

CashuBTC recently rolled out a new service that allows users to send Bitcoin offline using NFC (Near Field Communication). This feature enables instant Bitcoin transfers between iOS and Android devices, even without an internet connection.

With CashuBTC, users can send Bitcoin via SovranBitcoin, a Lightning-powered eCash protocol. By using NFC, one device simply taps another, transferring Bitcoin securely and privately. Since CashuBTC is built on Chaumian ecash, transactions are fast, anonymous, and censorship-resistant.

Why This Matters

Most Bitcoin transactions require an internet connection to confirm payments on the blockchain. However, CashuBTC’s NFC system bypasses that. This makes it perfect for situations with limited internet access, such as rural areas with weak connectivity, travelers needing quick, offline payments, and emergencies where the internet is unavailable.

Furthermore, this new peer-to-peer (P2P) feature enhances Bitcoin’s usability. Solutions like CashuBTC and SovranBitcoin are catering to the growth that accompanies Bitcoin’s popularity.

GameStop moves into the BTC market.

Popular game company GameStop has announced plans to buy Bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset. The game retailer said it would offer senior convertible notes worth $1.3 billion. A part of this would be diverted into purchasing Bitcoin.

Investing in BTC could make GameStop one of the largest corporate holders of the cryptocurrency. In addition, GameStop’s decision to move into Bitcoin seems to follow the growing mainstream appreciation of cryptocurrencies.

The gaming company said it is currently examining the risks and rewards of its proposed BTC investment. Meanwhile, the news failed to cause any major move in the crypto market, with BTC down by 0.42% today.
