Nvidia was far and away the winner of 2024 thanks to the AI stock surge. In a much more competitive market come 2025, which of the Mag-7 could lead the pack this time?
Based on the first 48 hours of 2025, it appears that Nvidia is ready to be at the top of the Mag-7 grouping once again. Nvidia stock led gains among the Magnificent Seven tech stocks to start the new year after a group-wide sell-off to close 2025. At press time, NVDA is trading at $137.53, up 2% today. The Chipmaker company grew over 170% in 2022, far exceeding any other tech stock.
Wall Street analysts have remained bullish on the stock, estimating shares will rise to roughly $173 over the next year from their current level of $138. While other Mag-7 stocks are trading at a premium price, none are expected to boom as much as Nvidia. However, despite this, the tech market will likely be more competitive than 2024.
More Competition Amongst Magnificent-7 Stocks This Year?
One of the main reasons for this analysis of more competition is more slices in the artificial intelligence industry. Amazon, Google Alphabet, and Meta have increased their investments in AI research and development. Meanwhile, Tesla is working on its own AI advancements within its auto industry and robot assistance project, Optimus. The remaining Mag-7 members will also be likely investors in the industry as AI continues to blow up in 2025. Shares of Nvidia and its Magnificent Seven peers have benefited from investors’ massive bets on artificial intelligence as well as earnings growth in 2024.
Furthermore, 2024 proved that Nvidia isn’t the only dominant player in technology, despite its surge. Shares of Amazon, which is also getting in on the chip game, surged more than 50%. Google parent Alphabet stock rose 40%, and Apple climbed more than 35%. While these fall far short of Nvidia, these numbers are expected to continue in 2025 as the companies make further steps into the artificial intelligence industry, As a result, AMZN; GOOGL; and MSFT could be Mag-7 stocks to watch this year in AI.
