Scroll recently announced its first airdrop, which aims to distribute 7% of the total SCR token supply. This airdrop is designed to reward participants who have contributed to the development of Scroll’s protocol and ecosystem.
The distribution acknowledges various forms of involvement, ranging from on-chain activity to support for community and technical projects.
Breakdown of the Airdrop Distribution
The airdrop is organized into four key categories:
- Community Participants: These are individuals who contributed through on-chain activities, particularly through Scroll’s Sessions program.
- Ecosystem Projects: Projects that have built on the Scroll platform, emphasizing innovation and network growth.
- Industry Contributors: This group includes technical contributors, ZK researchers, open-source developers, and organizations that support public goods in the Ethereum ecosystem.
- Global Community: Contributors such as event organizers, hackathon winners, participants in the Road to DevCon initiative, and Ethereum translators.
Allocation and Timing
A total of 55,000,000 SCR tokens (5.5% of the total supply) has been reserved for community participants involved in on-chain activities. 40,000,000 SCR tokens (4% of the total supply) will be distributed proportionally among participants who accumulated at least 200 Marks by October 19, 2024. This was determined through a snapshot taken on that date.
The airdrop claims can be made starting on October 22, 2024, and will remain open for 90 days. This first airdrop reflects Scroll’s focus on recognizing the contributions of its community in a structured and transparent manner.
