Kaia, the highly anticipated Layer-1 blockchain developed by two leading Asian messaging apps, Kakao and LINE, has officially launched its mainnet.
The Kaia mainnet is touted as the “world’s fastest EVM blockchain,” featuring one-second finality, ultra-low gas fees, and support from leading Asian web3 partners including Kakao and LINE NEXT.
The blockchain development follows the merger between Kakao’s Klaytn and LINE’s Finschia platforms in April.
Kakao and LINE together have a massive user base of over 250 million, with Kakao leading the South Korean market and LINE leading in Japan, Taiwan and Thailand.
Kaia’s Layer-1 blockchain is designed to address web3’s user experience and distribution challenges by leveraging its deep integration with messaging apps Kakao and LINE.
The blockchain aims to create an ecosystem that supports decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, real-world assets, and web3-based messaging applications.
As part of its mainnet launch, Kaia is extending an invitation to developers to create mini decentralized applications (dApps) on the LINE messaging platform via the NEXT WEB software development kit (SDK).
The platform aims to offer “Telegram-style native app integration” that offers a seamless user experience.
“By leveraging Kaia’s low TX latency, account abstraction, and fee delegation capabilities, developers can create a seamless end-to-end user experience while expanding their reach to hundreds of millions of LINE users across Asia,” the press release said.
