Sony secures exclusive marketing rights for GTA 6 on PlayStation

The exclusive marketing rights for Grand Auto Theft VI (GTA 6), one of the most anticipated video games in recent memory have been locked down by Sony Interactive Entertainment. This deal, according to the reports is expected to offer Playstation platforms, especially the PS5 and the speculated PS5 Pro, an advantage promotion-wise compared to Xbox and PC.

According to the insider ‘MAGG’ who was speaking on the XNC podcast, the second trailer for GTA 6 will validate Sony’s deal for exclusive marketing. This will ensure that PlayStation takes the lead in game marketing, thereby planting it as the main console for GTA 6 fans. While the game is still expected to debut on Xbox Series X|S and probably PC, the game’s marketing focus is said to be on the PlayStation 5 and its upgraded version, PS5 Pro.

Sony takes the lead in promoting GTA 6 on PlayStation platforms

If the rumors surrounding the upcoming PS5 Pro are true, it will serve a crucial purpose during the marketing of GTA 6. The insider indicates that Sony plans to promote the PS5 Pro as ‘the best platform’ on which to play the game.

The PS5 Pro is also claimed to be capable of handling 8K resolution with a respectable 60 frames per second, promising a visually appealing experience for gamers. If these technical abilities are correct regarding the PS5 Pro level editions, then PlayStation 5 Pro could offer one of the most enhanced versions, differentiating itself from the rest of the consoles.

Though there has been much expectation regarding GTA 6’s release on different platforms, Sony’s alleged marketing agreement indicates that promotion for the Xbox and PC versions may be more muted. Even though the game will still be offered on these platforms, PlayStation seems set to capture most of the available marketing resources, which may give it an edge over the competition in terms of the number of gamers and the game’s sales at launch.

Presently, Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 will debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, its PC version availability is still not confirmed, leaving the platform gamers in an uncertain state.
