Key Points
- Today, TON is facing its biggest challenge so far with Hamster Kombat airdrop.
- To prepare, TON’s Core Dev team developed Mintless Jettons technology.
Today, September 26, is a big day for the TON community, as the blockchain will face its biggest challenge with the Hamster Kombat airdrop.
In a post on X, the team behind the project highlighted the importance of TON being able to face this unprecedented event.
Hamster Kombat’s Airdrop to 131 Million Users
Hamster Kombat, the Telegram-based game with over 300 million users since March, will begin airdropping tokens to 131 million qualified users today.
TON said in their message that this is the largest token launch event ever recorded in crypto. The community’s main target is reportedly to put crypto in every pocket.
This event will undoubtedly put pressure on the network and potentially create unforeseen issues.
TON Core Dev Team Preparations – Mintless Jettons Technology
To prepare for the big event, the Core Dev team at TON has reportedly developed a technology called Mintless Jettons, which allows for the instant distribution of tokens to millions of users with gas fees under $1.
According to official docs, Mintless Jettons (TEP-177 and TEP-176) are an extension of the standard Jetton implementation (TEP-74) on the TON blockchain.
This implementation allows for large-scale, decentralized airdrops to millions of users without triggering high costs or adding excessive load to the blockchain.
Basic features include:
- Scalability – Unlike traditional minting processes that can be resource-intensive and expensive when distributing tokens to many users.
- Efficiency – Merkle Tree tech allows Mintless Jettons to store a single hash representing all airdropped amounts, reducing storage requirements
- User-Friendly Airdrop – Users immediately have their tokens ready to use without any previous preparations.
TON Successfully Handled Record Traffic
This week, the blockchain has seen record traffic, with new projects bringing unprecedented on-chain activities to Web3.
The TON network was faced with important challenges:
- On September 20, Catizen, another Telegram-based game, launched with 18 million monthly active users.
- On September 23, the Rocky Rabbit crypto game, with 18 million monthly active users was launched.
- On the same day, WATCoin, another blockchain-based gaming project, with 12 million monthly active users launched as well.
According to the team at TON, despite millions of interactions during this week, the blockchain was able to handle it all smoothly.
Today’s unprecedented event resulted in the creation of a new technology by TON explained above.
The team concluded by saying that every new user gets them closer to their goal of giving everyone the ability to have crypto, and leads to the result of mass adoption of freedom tech.
Today, Hamster Kombat‘s TGE and airdrop events are scheduled on TON.
