Is Satoshi Nakamoto to be exposed next in 2024?

Filmmaker Cullen Hoback and HBO have already sent out shockwaves among the crypto community while keeping them on the edge of speculation. Their latest documentary “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery,” may finally shed light on the identity of Bitcoin’s elusive creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.

Imagine being one of the richest people on Earth but nobody knows who you are. That’s the reality of the much-known Satoshi Nakamoto. With an estimated one million BTC (that’s over $60 billion!) his fortune has remained untouched, and his identity as well since he vanished in 2011.

Till the release of the movie, as it claims, the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto may finally be revealed, guesswork is still in the game. Meanwhile, Sassaman, a cryptographer and cypherpunk who passed away in 2011 has been rumored as a potential Satoshi ever since.

Could this film unmask Satoshi Nakamoto?

Cullen Hoback is renowned for his investigative work in the HBO miniseries “Q: Into the Storm.” However, he is taking on the challenge of uncovering the origins of Bitcoin with the aim of revealing the true identity of Satoshi.

The filmmaker hasn’t definitively named Nakamoto, still, he hints at a thrilling quest ahead. But will we finally know who’s behind the Bitcoin curtain? The trailer and Hoback’s posts suggest the possibility that Nakamoto could be an individual, a collective, or even someone overlooked by previous inquiries.

Adam Back, one of the OG cypherpunk developers, is set to appear in HBO’s upcoming documentary. The Cypherpunks is a group of privacy focused technologists. It is allegedly said that this group laid the groundwork for Bitcoin’s creation.

Satoshi might be dead by now

But here’s the twist, Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy, in an X post hinted that Len Sassaman could be unmasked as the Nakamoto in this documentary. He mentioned that there was a good write-up of this theory by Evan in 2021. Suspiciously, Sassaman passed in 2011 after committing suicide and this was the same time when Nakamoto disappeared.

Evan, who goes by the X username of @evan_worlds, in an X post highlighted that he had spent more than 500 hours researching Len Sassaman starting in 2017. He remained 100% convinced we have Sassaman to thank for Bitcoin. Evan stated that a second documentary and book are being made based on his article.

He further added that the other documentary team has interviewed everyone who was mentioned in the article. This includes Evan, David Chaum, Adam Back, Bram Cohen, Len’s wife, and more. They all came to the same conclusion. “They even got their hands on Lens’ laptop but it’s fully encrypted,” he stated.

As the speculation heats up on social media, the Bitcoin community is buzzing with several theories. Some believe this could finally be the documentary that solves the greatest mystery in crypto history.
