- ‘Off the Grid’ has launched in early access on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
- Players can customize robotic limbs for improved attributes and mint rare items as NFTs.
The highly anticipated blockchain-integrated game “Off the Grid” has been released in early access, allowing players to explore its unique battle royale experience. Developed by Gunzilla Games, the game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC using the Epic Games Store.
“Off the Grid” is different from other battle royale games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, and PUBG due to the following. The game allows players to fit and change robotic limbs during the game to gain improved attributes and tactical edges. This online survival game simulates a reality show where players have to eliminate each other in big team battles.
The main advantage of the “Off the Grid” model is the use of blockchain technology. Players can also mint rare weapons and items as NFTs, which increases the value of in-game assets. These NFTs can also be bought and sold, creating an in-game economy with the use of the GUN token, which will be listed on Avalanche mainnet in the future.
Although this is not the final version of the game, players get an idea of what they are to expect in the final product. At the moment, the game has a city map and a 60-player mode known as “Extraction Royale.” In this mode, three players fight each other to the death in a strategic and action-filled gameplay. This beta version allows players to experience the mechanics of the game and try out the game’s blockchain features.
Prominent Streamers Promote Game’s Launch
However, the crypto integration is not yet available for the game, even though it is available on consoles. Although players can get GUN tokens to finish missions within the game, it is impossible to buy GUN tokens for the game at the moment. The token has not been launched in Avalanche’s mainnet, but it has been used in earlier playtests. Gunzilla Games has not revealed when full blockchain integration will be possible on consoles.
Off the Grid has been quite popular, and many well-known streamers, including Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Seth “Scump” Abner, and Tim “TimTheTatman” Betar. Ninja’s custom character skin also makes the game more interesting. These streamers played the game to millions of viewers on Twitch to build up hype for the full release of the game.

Gunzilla Games has assured that with “Off the Grid,” players will get 60 hours of gameplay with a strong narrative focus, fusing battle royale with cinematic storytelling. This narrative element is meant to differentiate the game from other similar games in the market and make the game more engaging
Besides the trailer, the company has also released the official soundtrack for the game, ‘Off The Grid’. The developer also managed to raise $30 million to help with the development of the game and its future. Other investors that participated in the funding round include CoinFund, Avalanche’s Blizzard Fund, Republic Capital, and Morningstar Ventures, which will also be used to expand the Avalanche-based GUNZ platform.
