Electronics manufacturer Casio, listed on NASDAQ as CSIOY, is stepping into the digital realm by filing a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Casio, based in Japan, is eyeing the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for use in digital spaces. According to USPTO licensed attorney Mike Kondoudis, who shared this on X (formerly Twitter), Casio’s recent trademark application indicates its plans to introduce various digital products in the metaverse.
Kondoudis mentioned, “Casio is venturing into the metaverse with NFTs and virtual goods. The company has applied for a trademark covering virtual clothing, watches, NFT-supported media, AI-powered robots, virtual goods stores, and more!”

Casio Ventures into Digital Collectibles and NFTs
Casio, the electronics firm, is set to introduce a range of digital products for the metaverse. These include NFT watches, personal digital assistants, animation packages, virtual clothing, and fashion accessories for avatars in digital realms. They also hinted at creating “non-downloadable audio, music, images, and video” for digital and augmented reality.
In their filing, Casio mentioned offering virtual clothing, hairstyles, fashion accessories, and animation packages for avatars in online virtual environments for entertainment purposes.
Additionally, they plan to provide retail and wholesale services for downloadable digital goods for both individual users and institutions. Each downloadable digital item will be authenticated using NFTs, covering computer programs, application software, and digital files.
Casio sees this move as a way to offer immersive and interactive experiences in the world of Web3 technologies. This strategy allows the 77-year-old brand to engage with its customers in innovative ways.
While the exact launch date is uncertain, industry analysts anticipate the rollout of these digital collectibles in 2024.
USPTO Discovers Numerous Web3 Trademark Applications
Several well-known watchmaking companies, such as Hublot, Rolex, and Timex, have submitted trademark applications related to Web3 to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
In addition to these trademark filings, these brands have also announced partnerships to introduce timepieces that are connected to NFTs (non-fungible tokens). Meanwhile, some of them are making significant strides in the metaverse.
These watch brands are facing strong competition from other fashion giants like Nike, Hermes, Burberry, and Adidas. These companies are also vying for a prominent position in the world of wearable items for avatars in the digital realm.
