Pacquiao Foundation Teams Up with Shibarium for Philanthropy
The California-based nonprofit, led by boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, has teamed up with Shibarium, a Layer 2 blockchain in the Shiba Inu Ecosystem. The aim is to use Shibarium to improve how they track and manage donations and resources, boosting transparency in their global humanitarian initiatives.
Jon Sisson, Executive Director of the Manny Pacquiao Foundation, highlighted that adopting Shibarium aligns with their mission to expand operations and provide assistance to millions more individuals.
Shytoshi Kusama, the Lead Developer of Shiba Inu, expressed gratitude for the partnership with the Manny Pacquiao Foundation. He emphasized the importance of integrating advanced Web 3 technologies into charitable efforts.
This collaboration marks the foundation’s most significant venture into blockchain technology, showcasing its ongoing commitment to crypto adoption. The foundation has been accepting SHIB donations since 2021 and collaborating with entities like Binance Charity and the Jack Ma Foundation.
Shibarium and Manny Pacquiao’s Crypto Ventures
Shibarium, built on Ethereum, uses the Proof of Participation (POP) mechanism, focusing on community engagement and environmental sustainability. It’s currently in its beta phase, PUPPYNET 3, aiming to support digital innovation and low-cost peer-to-peer transactions.
Manny Pacquiao, known for both boxing and his involvement in the crypto space, was GCOX’s ambassador in 2018, introducing the Pac Token. In 2023, he launched Pac Pay, his crypto and fintech firm. Pacquiao also entered the non-fungible token (NFT) space, creating projects like the “Pacman the Jack Russell” collection and the Manny Pacquiao NFT (MPNFT) collaboration with Lodi Technologies.
Additionally, he partnered with GameFi Project Xeno for a blockchain project this year, offering exclusive NFT designs for purchase using stablecoins or credit cards.
