Craig Wright Seeks £9 Billion from Bitcoin Core Developers

  • Months after the U.K. High Court ruled that Australian scientist Craig Wright is not the author of Bitcoin, the controversial figure has filed a lawsuit against Bitcoin Core developers.
  • The basis of his argument is that Bitcoin Core developers subjected the protocol to an upgrade, causing a significant deviation from the original design.

Australian scientist Craig Wright, who was earlier in the news for his claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto, has filed a lawsuit against Bitcoin Core developers. According to him, these developers have misrepresented BTC as the original Bitcoin instead of Bitcoin SV (BSV).

Analyzing the filing submitted to the Chancery Division of the High Court in London, Wright alleged that the recent upgrade to the Bitcoin’s (BTC) protocol, which was introduced through Taproot and Segregated Witness (SegWit), deviated from the original design, causing financial harm. For this reason, he is seeking more than £911 billion in damages.

Responding to his latest legal action, prominent Bitcoin community member Magnus Granath (Hodlonaut), who earlier won a lawsuit against him in Norway, has disclosed in a press release that Wright should start using ChatGPT to represent him in court as no reputable law firm would want to do that.

When no reputable law firm is willing to keep representing his torrent of lies and forgeries, it is very much in character for Mr. Wright to start using ChatGPT to represent him in ever more delusional legal antics. It will end badly for Mr. Wright, of course.

Wright’s Previous Lawsuits Including Bitcoin Author Claims

Recently, Wright lost a lawsuit filed against him by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) after Judge Edward James Mellor at the U.K. High Court ruled that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto. On top of that, the court asked him to publicly declare that his claims are false as we earlier reported.

Dr Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin white paper. Most of his lies related to the documents he had forged which purported to support his claim … Dr. Wright’s attempts to prove he was/is Satoshi Nakamoto represent a most serious abuse of this court’s process.

Remarking on his history of defamation lawsuits, Litigation attorney Andrew Balthazor also pointed out that Wright could severely be affected by his “damaged credibility”. According to him, any good attorney could use the evidence of his “forgeries” to disprove his credibility.

The language used by the court was pretty strident. I think his personal credibility is obviously shot. I think a good attorney is going to be able to use the evidence of his falsehoods in the COPA trial to undermine his credibility and possibly reopen issues that were thought closed.

In a recent press release, COPA indicated their awareness of Wright’s recent claims. According to them, his latest legal attempt would be unsuccessful. Also, COPA admitted that it is too early to comment on the details. However, they expressed their confidence in the outcome.

Despite the UK High Court’s devastating demolition of Craig Wright’s fake claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto earlier this year, COPA is aware that Craig Wright has recently issued yet another claim in which he pretends to own IP rights relating to Bitcoin.

In addition to these legal actions, Wright also filed a separate lawsuit against Bitcoin Core developers and Square Up Europe Ltd on October 10, according to reports.
