According to an interview, Donald Trump has indicated that he would like to offer Elon Musk a position within his administration if he is re-elected. Trump commended Musk for his contributions to technology, particularly in the areas of electric vehicles and space exploration. He stated that Musk could play a valuable role in his cabinet or as an advisor, contingent on Musk’s willingness to accept such an appointment.

Concurrently, Trump suggested that he might end the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle (EV) purchases. He expressed doubts about the effectiveness of tax credits and incentives, hinting at the possibility of reversing current Treasury Department rules that facilitate automakers’ use of the EV credit.
Trump has previously attempted to repeal this credit during his presidency, but it was later expanded under President Joe Biden in 2022. Trump emphasized that, despite his reservations about tax credits, he supports a variety of vehicles, including electric, gasoline-powered, and hybrids.
