Elon Musk Reveals Investigation Into Kamala Harris Campaign, Here’s Why

Kamala Harris’s campaign is reportedly using a Discord server to coordinate volunteers in promoting pro-Harris content on social media, especially on X. Elon Musk immediately said to investigate.

Reports indicate that volunteers got instructions to downvote accurate Community Notes that challenge Harris’s posts, artificially inflating her messaging.

The campaign also employs the Reach app to share memes and videos, urging volunteers to amplify posts using unrelated trending hashtags. These coordinated strategies create a misleading perception of broad support and often violate social media platforms’ terms of service.

Kamala Harris’s Campaign Accused of Coordinated Social Media Manipulation

It has been reported that the Kamala Harris presidential campaign is manipulating the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, into censoring criticism and election misinformation.

Elon Musk reacted instantly, saying his people are working on it. The investigation develops from a more extensive investigation into tactics reportedly used by the Harris-Walz campaign to manufacture artificial support and bypass election regulations.

Earlier phases of the investigation showed that the Kamala Harris campaign allegedly manipulated Reddit through a coordinated astroturfing operation run on the Discord platform.

According to one specific plan by a user on the server, volunteers are going to sign up with X and then “flood” the platform to “block [community notes] we do not like.”

The owner of X-Elon Musk launched Community Notes as a more neutral way to handle misleading tweets. Some users can suggest notes to be appended to tweets where the information is wrong, misleading, or lacks essential context. Other users then vote on the accuracy and relevance of the suggested notes.

According to The Federalist, which is also pro-Trump, despite the Kamala Harris campaign’s official X accounts serving as conduits for misinformation and deceptive portrayals of the Trump-Vance campaign, very few of their false tweets have Community Notes attached.

The campaign allegedly instructed volunteers on its Discord server to downvote Community Notes. This was happening even when those notes correctly point out the campaign’s deceptive practices.

Discord Module Allegedly Boosts X Community Notes for Democrats

One of the modules in Harris-Walz Discord allegedly trains users to rapidly increase their “Rating Impact” enough to create their own Community Notes.

Paid Democratic staffers are reportedly creating questionable Community Notes on X. These are meant to undermine GOP and Trump messaging. At the same time they enthusiastically encourage volunteers to give these notes positive rankings.

Federalist said that he upvote mechanic of X’s Community Notes was designed to lessen political partisanship more effectively than it has done on Reddit. However, efforts by the Kamala Harris campaign to game that particular aspect of the feature have had only partial success. Their efforts do, however, rank as serious gaming of X’s Terms of Service. Federalist claim the rules prohibit artificially making information go viral.

Philadelphia DA Sues Elon Musk’s PAC Over $1M Voter Sweepstakes

However, Musk may well investigate. At the same time, he has no clean hands either. The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office recently filed a lawsuit against a political action committee controlled by Musk. It seeks to prevent it from giving away $1 million to registered US election voters in swing states.

District Attorney Larry Krasner filed the lawsuit just days after the U.S. The Department of Justice had even warned Musk’s America PAC that the sweepstakes might run afoul of federal election laws.

The civil suit was filed in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, and Elon Musk and America PAC were named defendants.
