The developers of Hamster Kombat, a clicker game with a huge number of players in Telegram, unveiled all the details of its season one airdrop. According to it, 60 billion HMSTR tokens will be distributed among the participants.
An X post revealed that 75 billion of the 100 billion tokens available for the project will be for the community. While 60% are available for distribution now and the remaining 40% to be distributed in season two via an airdrop.
Distribution Details and Vesting Period
From the total 60 billion HMSTR tokens, 88.75% will be distributed to eligible users right from the start. This will be approximately 5325 billion tokens.
The rest 11.25%, or about 6.75 billion tokens, will be locked and granted every month. It will be starting from 10 months after the tokenās listing on the exchanges such as Binance, OKX, KuCoin, Bybit, Bitget andĀ Gate.io.
This vesting strategy has angered users who were expecting the full airdrop at the end of season one.
Besides immediate and vested distributions, the developers behind Hamster Kombat haveĀ decidedĀ to release an additional 15% of the total token supply during season two.
The team has marketed the airdrop as one of the biggest in the history of crypto with the plan to allocate most of the tokens to active players, some to liquidity, partnerships, grants, and for rewarding the best performing squads.
Airdrop Eligibility and Anti-Cheating Measures
Nevertheless, more than 300 million people were engaged in the game in the first half a year. However, only 131 million of them will be able to participate in the airdrop on September 26, 2024.
As per the Hamster Kombat team, in total, 2.3 million accounts were banned for cheating. This happened after the employment of an anti-cheating mechanism.
Some of the teamās measures to curb cheating have been received with a certain level of controversy. With some users alleging that they were unjustly banned for the game even when they were following the rules.
Hamster Kombat has also come up with in-game achievements like the ācheating is badā badge. This is done to fight against cheating in the game.
However, the existing concerns regarding these measures have been criticized by some users. Usually criticized by users who think that the process was too rigorous or applied in a rather peculiar manner.
Community Reaction and Future Plans
TheĀ Hamster Kombat airdropĀ has received backlash from its community. Not only because of the partial token vesting but also due to the unfair distribution of the rewards. There have been questions asked why the team decided to give away most of the tokens to influencers and referral programs instead of using them to reward gameplay.
This distribution strategy has been a concern of the fan base, as the players believe that gameplay performance should have been the basis for the airdrops.
Nevertheless, Hamster Kombat has been rapidly expanding, and as of now, the game has more than 300 million users. The team behind the project has hinted at new features and updates for the second season which will come after two weeks of a break.
However, the developers are urging those players who have not chosen their preferred withdrawal method to do so as 30.6 million eligible users have not claimed their airdrop share yet.
