Nova Labs, the developer of the Helium Network, has partnered with Telefónica, a multinational telecommunications company, to introduce Helium Mobile Hotspots in Mexico. The collaboration aims to enhance mobile coverage for specific customers in Mexico City and Oaxaca.
Telefónica and Nova Labs Expand Helium Mobile Network in Mexico
In a strategic alliance, Nova Labs, the creator of the Helium Network, and Telefónica, a multinational telecommunications company, have introduced Helium Mobile Hotspots in Mexico.
Utilizing the OpenWifi standard from the Telecom Infra Project, this joint solution facilitates select Movistar customers in Mexico to access the Helium Mobile Network using their Movistar SIM cards for authentication. Telefónica monitors hotspot status to regulate access and data downloads over the Helium Mobile Network.
Expansion Plans and Positive Market Response: José Juan Haro, Chief Wholesale Officer at Telefónica, expresses the company’s intention to incorporate the product into their mobile network portfolio across various countries in the region if the initiative proves successful.
Following the announcement, Helium’s native token HNT experienced a substantial positive reaction, with its price surging over 21% to reach $7, according to CoinGecko data.
