Large Bitcoin Collection Now in Mystery Wallet – Collected in 3 Months

Bitcoin King

An undisclosed Bitcoin wallet has become the third-largest BTC holder globally, taking three months to amass enough BTC for this rank. This has led to speculation about the owner’s identity.

BitInfoCharts, a crypto data platform, shared info about the secret wallet. This wallet got its first BTC on March 8. In just over three months, it got 118,000 BTC, which is worth $3.08 billion right now.

Even with a lot of BTC, this wallet isn’t the biggest. Binance and Bitfinex have the largest Bitcoin wallets. These two wallets are “cold,” meaning not actively used.

Binance’s cold wallet became the biggest on March 10, 2021, with 143,528 BTC. It reached a high of 299,427 BTC by June 2021, and now it holds 248,597 BTC, worth over $6 billion.

Bitfinex’s cold wallet is the second biggest, while the secret wallet is third. It’s interesting that the fourth biggest is another cold wallet from Binance.

Is the Mysterious Wallet Owned by BlackRock?

After the third-largest Bitcoin holder became a mystery, lots of ideas started in the crypto world about who owns it.

One person on X (previously Twitter), DivXMan, noticed that the wallet had a big move of 3,400 BTC on May 16, 2023. Then, a month later, BlackRock, a big asset manager, asked to make a Bitcoin ETF on June 15. Another user put a picture of a black rock, suggesting that the wallet is owned by BlackRock.

Because of this, some people think BlackRock might have the wallet. This is because of the timing between the Bitcoin ETF request and the wallet getting BTC. But, there’s no strong proof that BlackRock really owns the mysterious wallet.

When BlackRock asked for a Bitcoin ETF, it made a big impact in the crypto market. If the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) says yes, this would be the first Spot Bitcoin ETF in the US. Other companies like Fidelity, Valkyrie, Invesco, and Wisdom Tree also want to make a Bitcoin ETF.
