MicroBT Unveils Most Powerful Bitcoin Mining Rig to Date

“Chinese company MicroBT has introduced its latest model, which is the most powerful Bitcoin mining rig available. With a remarkable output of 320 TH/s, it surpasses the equivalent machines offered by its competitor Bitmain”.

At the Bitcoin2023 conference in Miami, MicroBT, a manufacturer of Bitcoin mining machines, revealed three new mining rigs, with one of them being the most powerful option currently obtainable in the market.

MicroBT’s new model, the WhatsMiner M53S++, is a standout among the recently unveiled mining rigs. It boasts a computing power of 320 terahash per second (TH/s) while operating at an efficiency of 22 joules per terahash (J/T). This makes it more powerful than its competitor, Bitmain’s Antminer S19 XP Hydro, which offers up to 257 TH/s. However, the Bitmain model holds an advantage in terms of efficiency, running at 20.8 J/T, according to Zuoxing Yang, the founder and CEO of MicroBT.

In addition to the powerful WhatsMiner M53S++, MicroBT introduced two more models at the conference. The first one is the M50S++, built for air-cooling and capable of reaching 150 terahash per second (TH/s) in terms of computing power. The second model is the M56S++, designed for immersion cooling and able to deliver up to 230 TH/s. Both machines maintain an efficiency level of 22 joules per terahash (J/TH).

MicroBT developed the new mining machines with a key focus on utilizing sustainable energy sources. They aim to address the ongoing concerns regarding the high power consumption associated with mining activities. In a press release, the company stated that its founder, Dr. Yang, believes in the need to upgrade the power source for bitcoin mining due to the energy crisis and global warming. The aim is to find better solutions, such as using green energy, to ensure a more sustainable approach to mining.

MicroBT is actively working on adapting the voltage and frequency settings of the WhatsMiner to make it more compatible with solar power usage. Dr. Yang believes that solar power aligns well with the decentralized nature of the bitcoin network. The company aims to optimize the mining rig to be efficiently powered by solar energy, further promoting a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to mining.

Dr. Yang also highlighted that more than 90% of the heat produced by the mining machines can be captured and repurposed for various practical applications. This includes using the heat for tasks such as warming spaces, generating steam for industrial purposes, and even aiding in fish hatcheries. By utilizing the excess heat, MicroBT aims to maximize energy efficiency and minimize waste, creating additional benefits from the mining process.
