Ripple’s co-founder and chairman, Chris Larsen, became one of the crypto industry’s largest individual donors this cycle, according to the latest reports compiled by CNBC.
Larsen’s Detailed Contributions to Harris’ Presidential Campaign
According to official data, Ripple’s co-founder has given almost $9.9 million to Future Forward, the Democratic PAC, in September.
He also contributed over $800,000 to the Harris Victory Fund, according to FEC data compiled by Breadcrumbs crypto market and blockchain analyst James Delmore. The data has been reportedly verified by CNBC independently as well.
The publication also mentioned Larsen’s August contribution of around $1 million worth of XRP tokens, highlighting the total donation amount of over $11.8 million to PACs supporting the Harris campaign.
In a recent interview with CNBC, Larsen said that his comfort level with the Pro-Democrat candidate comes from conversations that he had with people inside the Harris campaign, and what he has seen from her since she replaced President Biden in the Presidential course back in July.
Larsen said that she knows people who have grown up in the innovation economy throughout her life, and he believes she understands things at a fundamental level in a way Biden has not been paying attention to or did not make the connection between empowering workers and making sure the US will dominate their industries.
CNBC also mentioned that Larsen has shown his pro-democratic stance since February when he gave the maximum personal contribution of $6,600 to Harris. This was around five months before she became the Presidential nominee of the Democrats.
Larsen’s net worth is around $3.1 billion, according to data from Forbes, and it mainly comes from his XRP ownership and Ripple involvement.
Larsen is part of a crypto industry that has become an important contributor to the US elections.
Half of Corporate Money Flowing in the US Elections Is From Crypto
The crypto industry became an important subject in the US elections, and also an important contributor, especially for Republicans.
According to a recent report from the watchdog group Public Citizen, almost half of the corporate money flowing into the US elections in 2024 has come from the crypto industry.
As we previously reported, important names donated to both Republicans and Democrats including Coinbase, Circle, Andreessen Horowitz, and more.
It’s also worth noting that since early June, Trump PAC raised over $7.5 million in crypto donations.
The US elections are scheduled to take place on November 5 and, according to the latest data from Polymarket, Trump continues to lead Harris by 61.9% to 38%.
Today, Trump’s odds have surged by 2%, compared to Harris who sees a drop in presidential odds of almost 2%.
