Terra swiftly froze compromised domains to protect users and funds. Domains remain frozen to stop phishing, while recovery coordination with the registrar is ongoing.
Terra, a blockchain platform that uses its own cryptocurrency called LUNA, faced a problem. The main website, terra(dot)money, had a security issue. They found out about it on August 18th.
It turned out that someone bad used a tricky method called a SIM swap attack to get around the platform’s two-step security. This method lets attackers take control of someone’s phone number by putting it on a new SIM card, which lets them get past many online protections.

As soon as Terra realized the danger, they acted quickly and in different ways to deal with it.
Protecting the Terra Community
Without pausing, Terra took quick steps to make sure its many users stayed safe. They did this by:
1. Freezing Compromised Domains: Terra got help from the domain registrar to stop the bad domains from working.
2. Updating Web Apps and Extensions: They made changes to the web app and the add-ons for browsers to stop possible phishing tricks.
3. Warning Users and Partners: Terra told the people using their platform to not go near the bad terra(dot)money sites.
4. Sharing Alerts and News: They sent out warnings and updates to help users stay alert.
And the good news is, their work paid off. Luckily, Terra found that no users were tricked by the attacker’s scams before they froze the bad domains.
Continuing Efforts to Solve the Issue
Terra is working closely with the domain registrar to get back control of the compromised terra(dot)money domains. When they succeed, they will tell everyone that the domain is safe again.
While waiting, users can still use Terra’s services in different ways:
1. The Station web app and add-ons for browsers now use a new and safe domain: http://station.money.
2. Terra’s Finder block explorer and official information are temporarily at http://finder.station.money and docs.station.money.
