  • Earlier, the network experienced downtime, due to an update delivered to some validators.

Meanwhile, the network issue has been resolved and now, according to Zeta Chain’s status website, all systems are operational.

In-Depth Details About Zeta Chain Mainnet Interruption

According to official notes, the Zeta Chain Mainnet stopped producing blocks on November 1st due to a consensus failure related to a new update that was rolled out to a small subset of validators.

The team at Zeta Chain identified the root cause of the failure and rolled back validators to the v20.0.5 version of the node software, asking the community to do the same. They said that most of the community has completed the task and there was a 60% participation in getting the correct software version.

A few validators attempted to run the consensus breaking version (v20.0.6) and were unable to participate in the vote. The network started producing blocks again, and an official report is expected tomorrow.

During the downtime, cross-chain transactions were delayed, but now, all deposits and withdrawals have been processed. The downtime debuted on the mainnet on October 31.

Apart from this recent issue, the network has been working without interruptions in the past 90 days. The last time the mainnet experienced an outage was on March 7 when the downtime lasted almost 4 hours. Yesterday, the network was down for 6 minutes, and today, the issues persisted for 6 hours.

ZetaChain Testnet also experienced issues and stopped producing blocks.

Athens Testnet Issues Resolved

Just like in the case of the ZetaChain mainnet, the Athens Testnet stopped producing blocks earlier today, and this was reportedly related to the issue seen on the mainnet regarding version 20.0.6.

The same actions were taken in this case as well, and after testnet validators synced back up, block production was restored eventually.

Now, all systems of ZetaChain seem to be fully operational.
