Ripple and Onafriq have entered into a strategic agreement to facilitate swifter and more cost-effective transactions between 27 African nations, with the collaboration extending to Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
This partnership leverages the blockchain technology provided by Ripple Payments and involves three key partnering companies. Zazi Transfer will manage transfers to Australia, PayAngel will cater to the United Kingdom, and Pyypl will serve the member states of the GCC, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Notably, Pyypl is an existing Ripple partner in its on-demand liquidity (ODL) solution, and Onafriq is reported to have integrated ODL as well.
Formerly known as MFS Africa, Onafriq recently underwent a name change in early November due to its acquisition of U.S.-based mobile payment software developer Global Technology Partners in June 2022, driven by trademark-related considerations in the United States. Earlier this year, Onafriq also sealed a deal with Western Union to facilitate cross-border transactions.

Furthermore, Ripple Payments, previously known as RippleNet, introduced its latest upgrade at the Ripple Swell customer event in Dubai on November 8.
