Bitcoin’s price has surged above $45,000 for the first time since Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were introduced in January. This increase has sparked predictions of a potential push towards $50,000.
On Thursday, Bitcoin reached $46,047, indicating a 1.65% rise over the past 24 hours. This marks the first time since the ETF launch on January 11 that Bitcoin has surpassed the $45,000 milestone.
Bitcoin’s Price Predictions and Market Sentiment
In a note to investors, analysts have predicted further upward movement for Bitcoin, with the possibility of reaching $50,000. They suggest that Bitcoin’s recent breakout from a trading range could lead to a push towards a new yearly high.
However, Laurent Ksiss, a cryptocurrency ETP specialist at CEC Capital, has cautioned that this milestone may prompt early investors who bought into Bitcoin ETFs to consider taking profits, potentially leading to a reversal and testing support levels around $42,000 to $40,000.
Significant Events Driving Bitcoin’s Surge: The recent surge in Bitcoin’s price coincides with several significant events in the cryptocurrency space, notably the approval of Bitcoin ETFs. This approval has propelled Bitcoin’s price above the $45,000 mark for the first time since their introduction. Additionally, there has been an increase in the number of Bitcoin wallets holding more than 1,000 Bitcoin, reaching the highest level in over 14 months.
Bold Predictions for Bitcoin’s Future: Prominent figures in the cryptocurrency community have been making bold predictions about Bitcoin’s future. Cryptocurrency YouTuber Lark Davis, for example, has suggested that Bitcoin could reach $150,000 in the next bull market. Michael Saylor, the co-founder of MicroStrategy Inc., has also emphasized Bitcoin’s potential as an institutional asset class and store of value, dubbing 2024 as the “year of birth of Bitcoin as an institutional-grade asset class.”
