Michael Saylor, the chairman of MicroStrategy, a major business intelligence company and one of the largest Bitcoin holders, has issued a crucial warning to the Bitcoin community. Saylor disclosed that his security team is actively working to remove deep-fake videos generated by artificial intelligence (AI), featuring him in the promotion of Bitcoin scams. This cautionary statement highlights the challenges posed by misleading content and potential scams in the crypto space.

Michael Saylor Warns Against Bitcoin Scams

Michael Saylor, the chairman of MicroStrategy, has disclosed that his team is consistently taking down about 80 fake AI-generated YouTube videos daily. This effort is part of an ongoing battle against scammers who persistently create more deceptive content.

Expressing his concern on X (formerly Twitter), Saylor issued a warning to the crypto community regarding fake podcasts advocating users to scan a barcode and send Bitcoin with the promise of receiving double the amount back. These tactics are typical of Bitcoin scams designed to deceive and steal from unsuspecting victims.

In response to these fraudulent activities, Saylor cautioned BTC holders that there is no risk-free way to double their Bitcoin, and MicroStrategy does not engage in BTC giveaways through barcode scanning. He strongly urged users to verify information and avoid blindly trusting such schemes.

AI Scammers Target Crypto Personalities

The threat of AI-generated scams extends beyond Michael Saylor, as other notable figures in the crypto space have also fallen victim. In November 2023, deep-fake videos surfaced featuring Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse falsely promoting XRP giveaways on social media.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a rapidly advancing technology capable of creating realistic digital content, including photos, videos, audio, and text. While AI has positive applications, its misuse for deceptive purposes is a growing concern.

The crypto community needs to stay vigilant against potential risks associated with AI scams. Adopting best practices, such as verifying the source and authenticity of crypto-related information or offers, is crucial. It is advised never to send cryptocurrency to unfamiliar or untrusted addresses or platforms, especially those promising unrealistic returns or rewards.
