Solana Mobile announced that it will be capturing a snapshot of those who pre-ordered its upcoming upgraded phone to offer them an exclusive NFT airdrop.
Preorders for Solana Mobile 2.0 are still available, and the community has received a significant update to keep an eye out for a major incentivization event scheduled for next week.
Solana Mobile 2.0: Enhanced Features and Preorder Incentives
Solana Mobile customers who join the waiting list for the second iteration of the phone through preorder will receive non-transferable tokens, including Non-fungible tokens (NFTs), as incentives.
Following challenges faced by Solana’s initial phone, Saga, the Layer-1 protocol decided to unveil ‘Chapter 2’ of the device. Solana Mobile 2.0 will retain core features of Saga, such as SnapdragonĀ® 8+ Gen 1, 12GB of RAM, 512GM of Flash, and a 6.67ā OLED display.
The new phone will also feature an integrated crypto wallet, customized Android software, and a “dApp store” for crypto applications. Solana emphasized affordability and new hardware specifications for the upgraded product.
Solana Saga initially launched with a $1,000 price tag but later sold for as much as $3,200 on eBay. In contrast, Solana Mobile 2.0 is priced at $450 for preorder.
Within 48 hours of announcing the preorder program, Solana Mobile recorded over 30,000 units paid for. The promise of incentives could drive demand for the phone to unexpected levels shortly after its launch, similar to the reception of Solana Saga.
Solana Mobile 2.0: Potential Impact of BONK Integration
Before Solana Saga’s listing on eBay, demand for the phone surged, largely fueled by discussions surrounding BONK, the pioneering memecoin in the Solana ecosystem.
Each Solana Saga buyer was entitled to receive 30,000 BONK, leading to a significant increase in demand and ultimately resulting in the phone being sold out. This incentive contributed to the soaring valuation of the device on eBay.
For the new version of Solana Mobile, it remains uncertain if there will be any BONK airdrop giveaways included in the incentives. However, its integration could significantly boost demand for the device. The incentive program announced for the Chapter 2 phone may have a similar effect to the BONK airdrop for Saga last December.
