Top Brands Embrace Crypto Despite Mixed Sentiments Among Americans

Samsung

Chick-Fil-A, Toyota, Pfizer, and Samsung are among the well-known brands that have shown interest in exploring the cryptocurrency space.

It is important to focus on their actions rather than their words, as Winston Churchill once said. Despite negative sentiments echoed in the media, claiming that “Bitcoin is dead” and associating crypto with criminal activities, these brands have ventured into the crypto world. Interestingly, recent polling suggests that Bitcoin and the collapsed exchange FTX are among the least favored brands in America.

However, there are notable contradictions from some of the most popular brands in North America. The Axios Harris Poll 100 is an annual survey conducted by news outlet Axios and market research firm Harris Poll, aimed at assessing the public reputation of highly visible brands in the United States. The survey involves 16,310 Americans, seeking to determine which companies have the highest level of public awareness and whether they are favored or disliked by respondents.

In a review of the 2023 results by Decrypt, it was observed that outdoor gear manufacturer Patagonia topped the list, while the Trump Organization ranked at the bottom.

Leading American brands stand regarding Web3 and cryptocurrency. FTX narrowly surpassed the Trump Organization in 99th place, with Bitcoin following closely at #93. However, despite the lower rankings of these two crypto-native brands, the results revealed that the most popular entries surprisingly show a positive reception towards the digital assets industry.

Chick-Fil-A, a prominent fast food chain and ranked number 5 on the list, has displayed interest in crypto-related ventures. The company has submitted trademark applications indicating its intention to explore the world of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and the metaverse.

Following closely behind Chick-Fil-A at number 6 is the Toyota Motor Corporation. The automobile giant expressed its belief in the significance of blockchain technology, stating that it is expected to be a fundamental technology in an era where everything and services are connected through information. In 2019, Toyota unveiled its official plans to establish the Toyota Blockchain Lab.

According to Yahoo! Finance, the automotive industry released a report earlier this year that examined potential opportunities in the Web3, NFT, blockchain, and digital wallet sectors. The report highlighted major players in the industry such as BMW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Subaru, and Jaguar as potential entrants into the cryptocurrency space.

Kellogg Company, ranked #26 on the Axios Harris Poll, has ventured into the world of Web3 gaming through its well-known snack brand, Pop Tarts.

Pfizer, a prominent pharmaceutical company, is positioned in the middle of the ranking at #50 and has also shown involvement in crypto-related endeavors. Through its investment arm, Pfizer Ventures, the company has participated in funding rounds for VitaDAO, aiming to explore decentralized science. Additionally, Pfizer joined a working group in 2019 to research blockchain technology for supply chain management purposes.

It’s not unexpected that some technology companies have been actively involved in crypto-related ventures, either through research and development or as holders of cryptocurrencies. Sony, ranked #12, applied for a new patent related to NFTs earlier this year, indicating its interest in further exploring the Web3 space for its PlayStation platform. Samsung, a top 10 brand, announced a Smart TV patent that enables users to purchase NFTs directly from their homes, showcasing their engagement with the emerging market.

While not all brands on the list have expressed interest in cryptocurrency, blockchain, or Web3, there are indeed some that have been actively involved in these areas for a few years. It remains to be seen if more brands will join them in the future as the industry continues to evolve.
