Fidelity Files Updated S-1 for Ethereum ETF

Fidelity has updated its essential S-1 form for an Ethereum ETF, clarifying that no staked tokens will be included. The SEC is currently reviewing Fidelity’s submission against the backdrop of evolving cryptocurrency regulations.

This move by Fidelity aligns with a broader effort among major financial institutions to seek approval for Ethereum ETFs.

Fidelity Files Updated S-1 for Spot Ethereum ETF

Fidelity Investments, a prominent asset management firm, has filed an amended S-1 application with the SEC for its spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF). This move has stirred speculation within the investment community, particularly in light of recent developments where the SEC requested Ether ETF issuers to update their 19b-4 filings.

The updated S-1 application clarifies that Fidelity’s proposed ETF will not include staked Ether tokens. This clarification is crucial as S-1 forms are essential regulatory documents required for launching publicly traded securities in the U.S.

These actions by Fidelity coincide with shifting perceptions of the SEC towards spot Ethereum ETFs, possibly influenced by evolving political dynamics.

SEC Nearing Deadline for VanEck’s Ether ETF Proposal

The SEC faces a pivotal deadline on May 23 to review VanEck’s proposal for an Ethereum ETF. Bloomberg’s senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas has significantly raised the odds of approval from 25% to 75% for the 19b-4 form, a critical step towards launching the ETFs. However, SEC approval of the S-1 filings is also essential.

The SEC’s approach to cryptocurrency ETFs has been a focal point, especially given previous approvals for Bitcoin ETFs. If Ethereum ETFs are approved, it would mark a major milestone in regulatory acceptance.
