Solana’s founder, Anatoly Yakovenko, is cautioning people about claims that suggest Solana is out to replace Ethereum. He wants the community to be careful with such narratives.
Solana’s founder, Anatoly Yakovenko, recently posted on the X app, advising everyone to avoid starting a rivalry between Ethereum (ETH) and other protocols like Solana (SOL), often labeled as ‘ETH Killers.’ He wants people to be cautious and prevent the development of a cold war between these platforms.
Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH): A Harmonious Coexistence
Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, has criticized the promotion of narratives pitting Solana as an “ETH Killer” against Ethereum. In his view, such narratives are detrimental to the overall blockchain ecosystem, emphasizing that protocols can coexist without the need for aggressive competition. Yakovenko, expressing his techno-optimism, believes in the compatibility of Pareto efficient technologies with overlapping features, rejecting the notion that Solana’s success must come at the expense of Ethereum.
In a recent tweet, Yakovenko discouraged the revival of the “eth killer” narrative, labeling it as “lame.” He reiterated the idea that technologies can compete without the need for one to eliminate the other. Additionally, he expressed optimism about the potential of “Danksharding,” a technology designed to add cheaper blocks to the blockchain, providing ample bandwidth to accommodate all of Solana’s data. Notably, Danksharding is an Ethereum rollup scaling method, expanding transactional throughput through additional storage space for roll-up transactions.
Don’t bring back last cycle “eth killer” bs. It’s lame. Pareto efficient technologies can have overlapping features and will compete, but that’s all ok. I don’t see a future where solana thrives and somehow eth dies. I am such a techno optimist that I am certain that…

Yakovenko’s statement reinforces the notion that Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH) can coexist and even overlap harmoniously without causing disruptions to either platform.
Solana Founder Urges Caution Amid Ethereum Rivalry Speculations
Despite the increasing acclaim for Solana, founder Anatoly Yakovenko has cautioned the community against fostering an unhealthy rivalry with the Ethereum protocol. This advisory came in response to MakerDAO Co-founder and CEO Rune Christensen’s announcement of plans to fork the protocol’s NewChain on the Solana blockchain, moving away from Ethereum. Some in the Solana community perceived this move as a competition for superiority.
Yakovenko swiftly emphasized the broader perspective, highlighting it as a collective win for open source rather than an opportunity to attack Ethereum. Notably, when an Ethereum community member disparaged Solana as a “Coallition of poors and wealthy ppl who don’t understand where value actually comes from or how to create it,” Yakovenko responded promptly. He clarified that Solana’s mission is to establish a stateless digital realm, promoting unrestricted communication and transactions free from the influence of capitalist intermediaries and government surveillance.
