The eligibility for early users and ecosystem adopters has been confirmed ahead of the airdrop, with approximately 695,230 wallets qualifying to receive tokens. This distribution represents about 17.5% of the total supply of ZK tokens, which amounts to 21 billion tokens in total.

ZKSync has allocated two-thirds (67%) of the ZK total supply to the community, with the remaining one-third held by the team and investors. Specifically for the upcoming airdrop, users and contributors will receive their allocation without any vesting or lock-up periods, making the tokens fully liquid from day one.

The distribution breakdown for the airdrop allocates 89% of the tokens to users and 11% to contributors, managed by the ZKSync Foundation and ZK Nation. The claiming window for users opens next week and extends until January 3, 2025, while contributors will start receiving their tokens on June 24.

ZKSync Token Allocation and Airdrop Details

ZKSync has disclosed further details about the allocation of its native token, ZK, and the upcoming airdrop. In addition to the 17.5% allocated to the community, 17.2% of the total supply has been earmarked for investors, while 16.1% is designated for Matter Labs, the developer team behind the ZK platform. These tokens are subject to a one-year lockup period, with gradual unlocks scheduled from June 2025 to June 2028.

A smaller portion, about 0.5% of the total supply, has been allocated to a group of users known as “experimental on-chain communities.” These include participants in various token and NFT-related activities such as recipients of DEGEN and BONSAI airdrops, players of Crypto the Game (CTG), and holders of Pudgy Penguins and Milady NFTs.

The eligibility for the airdrop and specific allocations were determined based on a snapshot of network activity across ZKSync Era and ZKSync Lite, taken on March 24, 2024 at 0:00 UTC. This snapshot coincided with the one-year anniversary of the ZKSync Era mainnet.
